Egypt. Alexandria. Domitian, 81-96. Obol (Bronze, 18.3 mm, 4.08 g). Dated RY 11 (= 91/2). ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ ΔΟΜΙΤ ϹΕΒ ΓΕΡΜ Laureate head right. Rev. Dolphin entwined around anchor; L IA (date) to either side. Geissen 381. Dattari (Savio) 600. RPC II, 2649. Emmett 308. BMC 318. Brown surfaces, some porosity. Ex Franco Chiesa, Numismatica Aretusa SA, May 1987. A well centred obol with on obverse, a superb portrait of Domitian who paid particular attention to aesthetics on coins. The original brown patina evenly covering the entire coin is also excellent.
