SPAGNA Ferdinando VII (1808-1817) Santiago - Medaglia uniface 1808 - Medina 386 AG (g 36,99 - 45x38 mm) RR Medina (1917) menziona solo esemplari in stagno. Medina (1917) Mentions only tin examples. The stamp of the sovereign's bust reproduces the exact block used by the engraver Ignacio Fernández Arrabal at the Santiago mint in Chile for the famous 8 gold escudos (the so-called ""Admiral's Bust"" type). However, there is a clear anachronism between the 1808 year stamped and the bust used. The analytical key lies in the details of the Collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece: The presence of 5 rings and 4 flames coincides in fact exclusively with the dies used for gold in 1810 and 1811. Taking as a guide the study of Ignacio Juan Gutiérrez and Matías Félix Ruiz (""Los Doblones de a Ocho Escudos""), the real minting date of this specimen is to be considered after 1810. SPL

SPAGNA Carlo III (1759-1788) Messico - Real 1769/70 M - KM 77; Cal. 420 AG In slab NGC XF 45 cod. 6692659-006. XF 45SPAIN Charles III (1759-1788) Mexico - Real 1769/70 M - KM 77; Cal. 420 AG In slab NGC XF 45 cod. 6692659-006. At the time, given the high cost of steel, the dies sent from Spain to the colonies were regularly re-engraved and used until they were completely worn out. They were often sent with the date incomplete, allowing local mints to complete the last digit if necessary. This example was probably produced by backdating a coinage prepared for 1770 that had only the first three digits punched; it was therefore sufficient to stamp the ""6"" over the ""7"". XF 45

A. Gil - Herrera 306 AE (g 78.31 - 55 mm) This medal celebrates the success of the repopulation of the Sierra Morena, an ambitious social experiment of the Spanish Enlightenment under Charles III. To secure and develop the strategic road between Madrid and Cadiz, then deserted and infested by bandits, the Spanish Crown attracted thousands of German and Swiss Catholic settlers, founding agricultural communities based on egalitarian ideals. The refined allegory on the reverse exalts the pillars of the king's project: Agriculture and Industry which, under the guidance of Hispania, brought civilization, order and progress to a once-wild territory.
