Lot # 969 - FURNITURE DECORATION Renaissance, c. 15th - 16th century. Decoration for furniture in gilded bronze with a rectangular shape, made up of two intertwined ropes to form two knots and in the center a pyramidal element with a low relief. Dimensions: 44 x 32 mm. 18.65 g. The knots recall the symbolism of the Savoys, even if they were not their exclusive prerogative.
Lot # 968 - Bronze cross. MEDIEVAL BRONZE CROSS Early medieval period, c. 8th - 11th century AD. Gilded cross, probably from the cover of christian holy book. Four empty bezels, now holes, at the end of each arm. Openwork cross in the middle, at the intersection of arms. 11 small holes, maybe loops for the joints attaching the cross to the support. Dimensions: 84 x 64 mm.

Lot of two (2) modern Greek-style amphorae; one decorated with a running figure on the right (possibly a Potnia Theron) on one side and a fight scene between two animals on the other; the other depicts two warriors, one on each side. Interestingly, the theoretical weight should be around 26 g, since it should weigh as much as an ounce, whereas it is significantly less. It cannot be ruled out that it could have been used to defraud possible buyers.

Lot # 960 - BRONZE ARAB-BYZANTINE ITEM Byzantine, c. 5th - 10th century AD. Arab-Byzantine oil lamp filler or cosmetic mortar with hemispherical body, deep rounded bowl with three feet, from which extends a long channelled spout, a flat short handle and smaller lateral lugs. Dimensions: 82 x 52 mm. Intact and complete, minor deposits. Objects like this, with a small rounded bowl, flanged handles and a long channelled spout, have been speculated to be many different things, from oil lamps to baby feeders. It seems most likely, however, that the hemispherical body was used for as a mortar for crushing cosmetic materials, which would then have been poured down the spout into small flasks, or as a oil lamp filler, the terracotta lamp would be filled with oil through the pouring hole.
