An issue of exceptional historical significance, struck in the context of the conflict between Corcyra and Epidamnus that preceded the Peloponnesian War. The coinage, produced by Corinth and its colonies to finance the impending conflict, reflects the political crisis following the expulsion of the oligarchs of Epidamnus. The present type is of extreme rarity, with only four examples known, including just two struck from the same dies. Silver.
