Nota storica: Massimino II, nipote di Galerio, divenne Cesare il 1° maggio 305. Dopo la morte di Costanzo I Cloro, avvenuta il 25 luglio 306, non divenne Augusto e rimase subordinato a Galerio. Dopo la conferenza di Carnunto del novembre 308, era solo figlio degli Augusti, mentre Licinio I divenne Augusto direttamente. Solo l'anno successivo Massimino II assunse il titolo di Augusto, titolo riconosciuto da Galerio solo nel 310. Dopo la morte di Galerio, nel maggio del 311, era il più anziano dei tetrarchi sopravvissuti. Litigò con Licinio e Costantino I, mentre cercava di stringere legami più stretti con Massenzio. Dopo il 312, Licinio gli si rivoltò contro, e fu infine eliminato nel 313.
