- Macerata remains one of the few Italian mints that has not yet received an independent and comprehensive study from numismatic scholars. Yet its activity spanned nearly three centuries, and its output was far from modest, being part of the broader context of papal coinage. This volume aims to fill that gap by examining the productions of the Macerata mint from the 14th century to the end of the 16th century, covering both the communal and papal periods, with the exception of the final years of Pope Pius VI’s pontificate and the subsequent Roman Republic.
