- Notes
- With this volume, the work of promoting the numismatic heritage preserved in Tuscan museums continues. After the publication of several volumes on the specimens held in Florence, it is now the turn of the National Archaeological Museum of Arezzo. This is the first book dedicated to the collections of this renowned institution and focuses on one of the most fascinating coinages for scholars worldwide: the coinage of Republican Rome. The museum preserves some of the oldest examples, namely the aes grave, or cast bronze series. The volume concludes with the first silver issues, minted after Rome came into contact with Southern Italy. The book was written by Dr. Niccolò Daviddi and Dr. Francesco Paratico, with contributions by Dr. Fiorenzo Catalli, and made possible thanks to the foresight of Dr. Stefano Casciu and Dr. Maria Gatto, respectively from the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Tuscany and the Director of the National Archaeological Museum of Arezzo.
