Study Forgeries. Commodus "Paduan" medallion after Giovanni da Cavino (Bronze, 37.53 mm, 32.17 g). [M COMMODVS ANTONINVS PIVS FELIX AVG BRIT], Laureate, draped and cuirassed half bust right. Rev. This medallion undoubtedly appears to be a cast, but it shows metal encrustations along the edges that resemble chemical fusion residues, as if it had undergone an electrolytic process in running water (such as a river). Moreover, the patina also appears riverine. Nevertheless, we cannot demonstrate its genuineness. Good Fine. Very Rare. - Study Forgeries.
