Ptolemaic Kings of Egypt. Ptolemy V Epiphanes, 204-180 BC. Tetradrachm. Uncertain mint, probably on the Levantine Coast. Circa 199-198 BC (Silver, 26.20 mm, 14.02 g). Diademed and draped bust right. Rev. ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ - ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ, Eagle standing left on thunderbolt; on left, ΠΚΑ monogram. Svoronos 1258. CPE 1109. Carlen & Lorber p. 169. SNG Copenhagen Supp. 1301 var. (with aegis). Lightly toned. Beautiful portrait: the boy king Ptolemy V has been the only Ptolemaic rule to strike coins with his own portrait. Good Very Fine. Rare.
