On the reverse of this drachm appears the sign of Cancer on which Selene's bust rests. Some scholars maintain with conviction that the zodiac series of the year 8 of the reign of Antoninus Pius (144-145 AD) was issued as an auspicious celebration of the wedding in that year, of Caesar Marcus Aurelius, with Faustina II, daughter of the emperor.
