Excellent portrait of Antoninus Pius on the obverse of this drachm from his twelfth year of reign (AD 148- 149) formerly in the collection of Giovanni Dattari. On the reverse we admire the Isis Pelagia becoming Isis Pharia sailing on the sea at the water's edge in the direction of the lighthouse of Alexandria, which appears here in its entirety, from the access staircase to the lantern topped by the statue of the sun-god Helios, transmitting light to sailors. It is one of the scenes often reproduced in Alexandrian coinage from Domitian to Commodus, and rightly so to propagandize one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World.
