This tetradrachm of excellent maintenance shows on the obverse a splendid youthful bearded portrait of the Caesar Marcus Aurelius (preferred over the other Caesar Lucius Verus), plastic and veraciously physiognomic. The coin is dated according to the reign years of his father-in-law Antoninus Pius, who is virtually present on the reverse through the imperial eagle.
