Ex Victor England (CNG), purchased in 1993.
Exceptional tetradrachm struck by Philip I in high-quality silver—an absolute rarity during an economically troubled period when such coins were virtually devoid of it. The flan is also notably thick, comparable to a piedfort. On the reverse, a solemn full-length figure of Zeus Serapis is shown, draped in a mantle, holding a sceptre and wearing a kalathos.
