The Emperor, laureate-headed, in military dress, riding the horse at a left trot, holding sceptre and greeting with the right arm outstretched; L KA (date) in field. Geissen-. A splendid coin, especially for its reverse with the emperor on horseback in glorious and solemn military attire, holding a sceptre, advancing and saluting with his right hand. According to Vogt (I, p.225), the scene preludes a forthcoming arrival of Diocletian in Egypt, but it is also possible that it is an issue celebrating the sovereign's ‘decennalia’ celebrated in Nicomedia in November 294 AD.
