Sicily. Syracuse. Second Democracy (466-405 BC). AR Tetradrachm. Obverse die signed by Euainetos, reverse by Eumenos, c. 415-406 BC. Obv. Charioteer driving galloping quadriga right, holding kentron and reins; above, Nike flying above and holding wreath on which is hung a tablet inscribed [EYAIN/ETO] in two lines; in exergue, two dolphins. Rev. Head of Arethousa left, wearing earring and necklace; EVMENOV AND four dolphins around. Fischer-Bossert, Coins, 45 = Tudeer 45 (O14/R27); SNG ANS 272 (same dies); HGC 2 1332; SNG München 1057 (same dies). AR. 17.18 g. 25.5 mm. RRR. Extremely rare and fascinating Tetradrachm, with clear reverse signature. VF.
