Royal Arch Masonry – Companion’s Jewel, England, c. 1890–1910 (37.15 x 65.83 mm, 27.27 g).
A finely executed Royal Arch Masonic Companion’s jewel, of circular form, suspended from its original deep crimson ribbed silk ribbon, mounted with an ornate pierced and engraved gilt suspension bar and long pin fitting. The quality of manufacture and ribbon construction is characteristic of late Victorian to early Edwardian English Masonic regalia.
The obverse displays a well-modelled hexagram enclosing the principal Royal Arch symbols, including the Triple Tau, together with surrounding inscriptions referring to the core virtues of the Order. The design retains good definition, with the original translucent enamel centre and gilt surfaces showing pleasing age toning. The upper mount is of decorative scroll form, consistent with higher-quality pre–First World War production.
The reverse is plain gilt metal, retaining the original suspension fittings and construction, as issued. Overall, a correct and attractive example of an English Holy Royal Arch Companion’s jewel from the turn of the 20th century.
Condition: Very Fine. Light wear consistent with age; enamel intact; ribbon original and sound; suspension and pin secure.
