A finely executed late Victorian Masonic presentation jewel, issued by Clarence Lodge and formally presented on 28 December 1892 to Bro. Henry M. Parker. The jewel is of star form, richly engraved throughout with crisp foliate scrollwork and centred with the intertwined lodge initials C.L. within a circular cartouche.
The jewel is suspended from its original pale green riband with brown and buff edge stripes, bearing the gilt embroidered letters C.L.E. and mounted with period silver bars and fittings. The reverse is fully engraved with the original presentation inscription:
“Presented by the Clarence Lodge
to
Henry M. Parker
Dec. 28. 1892”
Below, the maker’s mark DAVIS MAKER / BIRMINGHAM is clearly stamped, confirming manufacture in the final decade of the 19th century.
Condition: Very Fine. Silver bright with light, even patina; engraving sharp and legible throughout; riband original and intact with expected age wear and small period repairs; fittings complete and functional. A well-preserved and attractive Victorian lodge presentation jewel.
