Maker: Toye & Co., London (hallmarked)

Period: Early 20th Century
A handsome and finely crafted Founder’s Jewel for Thetford Lodge No. 3334, produced by the renowned regalia makers Toye & Co., London. This jewel follows the classic early 20th-century founder’s pattern: a broad pale-blue silk ribbon mounted beneath an ornate gilt bar with rich cobalt-blue enamel reading FOUNDER, flanked by decorative scrollwork and stars.
Suspended below is a beautifully formed triangular silver frame, representing one of the most traditional symbols in Craft Masonry. At its centre sits an enamelled roundel depicting the arms of Thetford, with a detailed rendering of the town’s castle or fortified gateway in red, white, and gold. The lower scroll bears the lodge designation:
THET LODGE No. 3334
The reverse retains the original long pin and hinge fittings and is clearly struck with full London silver hallmarks alongside the maker’s mark of Toye & Co., confirming both authenticity and quality.
Condition: Very Fine. Enamel clean and bright; gilt elements show only light age toning; ribbon lightly faded but stable; reverse with attractive patina and crisp hallmarks.
