M.M.M. / Mark Degree Jewel – Silver-Gilt & Enamel, c. 1920s–30s (55.64 x 34.05 mm, 33.16 g).
Material: Silver (marked SILVER), with gilt finish and white enamel
Maker: Unattributed (standard Mark style workmanship)
A handsome early 20th-century Mark Masonry jewel, featuring a beautifully modelled interlaced triangles motif with central Mark Master keystone symbol. The surrounding Latin inscription encircles the enamelled field:
HONOR FIDELITAS BENEVOLENTIA DEO REGI FRATRIBUS
on one side,
and
UT TALIA IUNGERE POSSIS SIT TIBI SCIRE SATIS
on the reverse face.
The jewel is suspended from a deep crimson riband fitted with ornate gilt floral bars — classic three-bar construction of the period, each finely chased with foliate detail. The lower segment includes the circular monogram device traditionally associated with the Mark Degree.
The reverse bears two SILVER stamps confirming the medal and suspension components are solid silver with gilt overlay. Original long pin and fittings present.
Condition: Very Fine. Gilt and enamel clean and attractive; riband bright with light age; silver reverse with expected patina; all components original and secure. A strong example of the Mark Master jewel in its more elaborate multi-bar form.
