Castle Lodge – Founder’s Jewel, c. 1920s–30s (51.02 x 34.19 mm, 24.68 g).
Material: Silver (marked), with Gilt and Enamel
Presentation: “Presented to Bro. E. Day C.P. by the Brothers” (engraved on reverse)
A handsome and early Founder’s Jewel for Castle Lodge, featuring fine gilded decoration and rich enamel work. The jewel hangs from a gold-and-black striped riband — the colours traditionally associated with senior RAOB offices — topped by an ornate gilt and enamelled bar inscribed:
FOUNDER
Beneath the ribbon sits a second bar naming the lodge:
CASTLE LODGE
The medallion displays an enamelled shield in deep blue and white, framed by a laurel wreath and surmounted by a red enamel crown. At the centre is a bold and expressive buffalo head — a classic emblem of the Order — crisply modelled with excellent detail.
The reverse retains the original hanging loop and displays a neatly engraved dedication:
PRESENTED
TO
BRO. E. DAY C.P.
BY THE
BROTHERS
Along the lower edge is the stamp SILVER, confirming solid silver construction for the suspended jewel.
Condition: Very Fine. Enamel clean and well-preserved; gilding with mild age toning; ribbon worn but original; engraving sharp; silver reverse lightly patinated. A strong, characterful Founder’s jewel with personal presentation.
