Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution Steward’s badge, dated 1925, gilt and enamel, suspended from its original deep maroon ribbed silk ribbon. The obverse with enamelled circular badge inscribed “Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution”, centred with a shield bearing a rampant lion, surmounted by a lion passant above, and dated 1925 below. Above, a smaller enamelled shield device mounted to the ribbon, and a suspension bar enamelled “Steward”, surmounted by a crown. The reverse with openwork backing plate, retaining its original pin fitting, and marked “C. Weede, London” and “Silver” to the reverse of the suspension bar. A well-made and visually striking example of an interwar Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution steward’s badge, retaining attractive enamel colours and original ribbon. Condition: Very good, with light surface wear and some age-related patina; enamels largely intact with minor losses; ribbon with expected wear. Date: 1925.
