A beautifully crafted and visually striking Founder’s Jewel from West Twyford Coronation Lodge No. 5674, featuring one of the more desirable hand-painted scenic enamel centrepieces produced by Toye & Co. during the interwar years.
Suspension & Ribbon
The ornate gilt suspension bar bears the inscription:
FOUNDER
Suspended from the bar is the original pale blue watered silk ribbon, displaying only light surface rippling from age. A gilt Founder’s key motif is mounted to the centre of the ribbon — a classic symbol of authority, opening, and establishment.
Obverse
The jewel itself is dominated by a finely executed oval plaque showing a hand-painted enamel depiction of West Twyford Church set within greenery, complete with architectural detail and strong colour saturation.
Surrounding inscriptions read:
WEST TWYFORD CORONATION (upper scroll)
LODGE No. 5674 (lower scroll)
The design is framed by gilt Masonic compasses and additional enamel flourishes in blue and white.
Reverse
The reverse bears the maker’s stamp:
T & Co
TOYE & CO LTD, LONDON
Alongside full British hallmarks, confirming silver construction beneath the gilding.
The long original pin-fastening is fully intact and functional.
Condition: Very Fine to Extremely Fine. Ribbon well preserved; enamel painting in excellent state with no noticeable losses; gilding bright; hallmarks clear.
Scenic enamel lodge jewels of this quality are among the most sought-after examples within English Craft regalia.
