Masonic Charity Jewel
Early–Mid 20th Century**(70.31 x 34.04 mm, 37.45 g).
Maker: Unmarked
Material: Silver
A well-modelled Masonic charity jewel, oval in form and suspended from a five-pointed star surmount, mounted on its original royal blue ribbon with a pale central stripe.
The obverse displays a finely rendered allegorical scene of Charity, depicting a robed female figure offering a bowl to a seated, semi-nude male figure, executed in restrained high relief. Above, a curved scroll bears the Latin motto “AGROS SANAT HUMANITAS”, surmounted by the Masonic emblem, all crisply struck.
The reverse is plain, without inscription, showing the original construction and suspension fittings. Silver hallmarks are present on the medal, confirming material and period. The ribbon remains original, retaining good colour and structure, with the original pin-back fitting intact.
Condition: Very Fine. Silver with light surface wear and even patination consistent with age; relief sharp and well preserved. Ribbon shows minor wear at the folds but remains sound. An honest and attractive example.
