Liver Lodge No. 3917 – Presentation / Past Master’s Jewel, 1932 (Gold, 46.36 x 33.47 mm, 23.42 g). Ribbon worn. In a black leather fitted case, gilt-tooled to lid, by Schwierwater & Lloyd, Liverpool.
A fine gold and enamel Liver Lodge jewel, comprising a blue enamel top bar titled LIVER LODGE, suspended from an original pale blue/grey moiré ribbon (now heavily worn/frayed). At centre is an ornate gilt cartouche enclosing an enamel scene with a bird emblem (Liver Bird motif) in landscape.
Below is a second blue enamel bar inscribed No 3917, from which hangs the principal jewel: a substantial Square and Compasses in gold, one arm finely calibrated like a rule. Suspended within is a small rectangular pendant with applied emblem.
Reverse: The reverse retains the original brooch fitting. The gold square is inscribed (as engraved) to the arms, including:
“W Bro W. Barrett … Liver Lodge No 3917” and a presentation dedication “Presented by the Brethren as a mark of esteem … 8 Nov 1932” (date reads as 1932 in the photo).
Condition: Very good metalwork and definition; enamel well preserved; ribbon worn with losses/fraying; fittings secure; case with expected age wear.
