A superb and finely detailed Founder’s Jewel for Doric Chapter No. 5019, Province of Surrey, produced in high-quality sterling silver with rich gilt accents and deep enamel work. This jewel represents the sophisticated craftsmanship characteristic of early 20th-century chapter regalia.
Suspended from a crisp white silk ribbon, the upper bar displays FOUNDER in bold red enamel with the date 1933 immediately below. The ribbon bears a gilt triangular emblem of crossed tools, symbolising Chapter authority and dedication.
The medallion itself is executed in gilt and white enamel, dominated by a central Doric column—an iconic emblem of Chapter tradition—framed by the Star of David and architectural motifs. The surrounding red enamel legend reads:
DORIC CHAPTER No. 5019
PROVINCE OF SURREY
The reverse retains original fittings and is clearly stamped KENNING & SON, LONDON, along with full silver hallmarks confirming authenticity and period production.
Condition: Very Fine. Gilding bright and well preserved; enamel clean and undamaged; ribbon lightly toned from age yet stable; reverse with attractive patina and sharp hallmarks. A beautifully made Founder’s jewel with strong aesthetic presence.
A distinguished and desirable example of inter-war Royal Arch regalia, highly collectible for both chapter and general Masonic jewellery collections.
