Wiltshire Jewel
Mid–20th Century** (62.12 x 44.02 mm, 42.01 g).
Maker: G & S (hallmarked)
Material: Gilt Metal with Blue Enamel
A well-made and visually striking Wiltshire jewel, of oval form, featuring crossed swords in silvered relief against a rich blue enamel ground, enclosed within a gilt oval border bearing the county name WILTSHIRE in raised letters.
The piece is suspended from a spherical looped suspension, giving a clean and balanced presentation typical of mid-20th-century provincial regalia. The design is bold yet restrained, with strong symbolic clarity.
The reverse is plain, with a soft satin finish, and bears a clear maker’s mark and hallmarks, confirming quality manufacture.
Condition: Very Fine. Enamel bright and well-preserved with no losses; gilt surface retaining good colour with light handling marks; suspension intact and secure. Overall a clean and attractive example.
