Gilt and enamel jewel suspended from a deep claret ribbed silk ribbon, fitted with ornate gilt bars inscribed “1st Deg: 8-12-46” and “2nd Deg: 14-1-48”. The obverse features the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes star-form badge, with central enamelled lion’s head within a blue enamel circlet bearing the motto “Nil Mortali Omnibus”, and surrounding inscriptions including “Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes” and “Shorts”.
The reverse plain, engraved to “Bro. Albert F. Budworth, Clarendon Lodge 3221, Exalted 15-4-51”, retaining original pin, suspension ring, and fittings. Maker’s and hallmarks present.
A well-preserved and historically interesting RAOB jewel, retaining strong enamel colour and crisp detail, with clear dated progression through the degrees.
Condition: Very good, light surface wear and patina consistent with age; ribbon with minor wear.
Period: Mid-20th century.
