Wiltshire Jewel
Mid–20th Century** (56.54 x 42.02 mm, 40.11 g).
Maker: Unmarked
Material: Gilt Metal with Blue Enamel
A well-proportioned Wiltshire jewel of oval form, the obverse centred with a vertical gilt emblem set against a radiant sunburst blue enamel ground, enclosed within a textured gilt surround bearing the raised county title WILTSHIRE.
The rich blue enamel displays strong colour saturation with fine radial detailing, contrasting attractively with the warm gilt finish. The jewel is suspended from a simple ring loop, giving a clean and restrained appearance consistent with mid-century county and provincial regalia.
The reverse is plain with a softly matte gilt surface, showing natural age patination and honest wear from use.
Condition: Very Fine. Enamel bright and well preserved; gilt surfaces with light handling wear and minor age toning; suspension ring intact and secure. A pleasing example with good colour and balance.
