34th W.C.N. – RAOB Triangle Jewel (Invicta), 1948 (42.18 x 41.38 mm, 17.72 g). Maker: Gillett & Johnston, Croydon / Kent (stamped on reverse) Material: Gilt Metal with Enamel; Original Multicolour Riband A distinctive and attractive Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (RAOB) W.C.N. presentation jewel, awarded in 1948. The jewel retains its original rainbow-pattern ribbon, unusually vibrant and associated with Kent-area lodges. The applied shield with white horse and motto INVICTA further identifies the Kentish origin. The gilt suspension bar is engraved: 34th W.C.N. Below hangs a finely made triangular jewel, the traditional emblem of the W.C.N. office, with a frosted gilt field and central raised “N” over a white-enamelled inner triangle. The reverse is neatly engraved: PRESENTED TO Wor. Bro. H. S. Waites BY THE OFFICERS AND BRETHREN 8th SEPT. 1948 Maker’s mark appears below: GILLETT & JOHNSTON / KENT Condition: Very Fine. Ribbon bright and complete; enamel intact; gilding sharp with minimal wear; engraving crisp; reverse fittings sound. A very well-preserved example of a mid-century W.C.N. jewel.
