Masonic Attendance Jewel Mid-20th Century (1962)** Lodge: Press Lodge No. 5564 Recipient: Bro. J. A. Read (38.95 mm, 24.42 g). Material: Gilt metal with enamel and embroidered ribbon A finely made Masonic attendance jewel, suspended from its original pale green ribbon with pink and black edge stripes, the ribbon embroidered “CLH” in gilt thread. The ornate gilt suspension bar is engraved “PRESS LODGE No. 5564”. The obverse jewel is formed as a multi-pointed star centred with a lion’s head in relief, surrounded by a blue enamelled circlet bearing the motto “MORTALIUM OMNIBUS HORIS SAPI”, the enamel retaining strong colour and definition. The reverse is engraved: “BRO. J. A. READ for attendance 30th Nov. 1962” Below the inscription are struck maker’s and metal marks. The original pin fitting remains intact. Condition: Very Fine. Ribbon sound with light age toning; gilt surfaces with minor wear; enamel clean and bright; engraving sharp and fully legible. A complete and well-preserved example.
