Strange), London Material: Hallmarked Sterling Silver (London, 1930 hallmarking year) A handsome and richly symbolic Founder’s Jewel issued for the Westhoughton Chapter No. 4215 in 1930, crafted in gilt and multicoloured vitreous enamel and suspended from its original cream-coloured ribbed silk ribbon beneath a white-enameled FOUNDERS bar. The upper ribbon is adorned with a gilt emblem of radiating rays and a superimposed triangle, signifying illumination and the aspirational ideals of the Chapter. The main suspended jewel is formed around a six-pointed star motif, its border in red enamel punctuated with scrolling gilt ornament. Within the centre is a finely hand-painted enamel roundel depicting a pastoral scene: a white bull’s head framed by garlands, with a stylised green landscape and distant hill. Ltd., London Hallmarked Sterling Silver (London, 1930s–1940s) A beautifully crafted Founder’s Jewel for Aurora Lodge No. 5768, executed in sterling silver with exquisite hand-painted enamel and suspended from its original pale turquoise-blue ribbon. Founder jewels are among the most prestigious pieces of lodge regalia, awarded only to the establishing brethren at the consecration of a new lodge. The gilt and blue enamelled upper suspension bar is inscribed: FOUNDER Below it, the ribbed ribbon is adorned with crossed golden arrows—a symbolic emblem often associated with direction, guidance, and unity in lodge foundation. Lot # 360 - Order of Foresters – Court Officer’s Jewel (Early–Mid 20th Century) (43.11 x 34.79 mm, 23.70 g). Maker: Spink & Son Ltd., London Material: Sterling silver with enamel; original ribbon Period: c. 1920s–1940s A rare and visually impressive Ancient Order of Foresters (A.O.F.) Court Officer’s Jewel, crafted in sterling silver with polychrome enamel and suspended from its original tri-colour ribbon. These jewels were awarded to officers of individual "Courts" (local branches), and this particular example displays an exceptionally decorative top bar and pendant. The suspension mount features a heraldic stag’s head crest rising from a coronet, flanked by crossed hunting horns—classic symbols of the Foresters’ origins as a friendly society rooted in woodland lore and mutual aid. Beneath the crest hangs a ribbon in green, red, and white, folded in the Foresters’ distinctive double-loop style. The pendant is a richly decorated openwork shield with scrolling foliate motifs. At its centre is the interlaced Foresters monogram F C O in red, white, and blue enamel. Crafted in sterling silver with a pictorial enamel centre, this jewel showcases the elegant commemorative style typical of high-quality Mark regalia. The top suspension bar is cast in gilt and boldly inscribed: JUBILEE It supports the original ribbon in crimson and white vertical stripes, symbolising dignity and purity within Masonic colour tradition. Maker: (London silversmith; hallmarks present) Hallmarked Sterling Silver (London, 1939–40) A well-preserved Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution (RMBI) Steward Jewel dated 1940, executed in gilt metal with rich blue and white enamel, suspended from its original deep crimson ribbon. Produced at the outset of the Second World War, this jewel represents one of the early wartime RMBI issues, notable for its elegant heraldry and fine enamelwork. The upper bar bears a black enamel inscription STEWARD, attached to a period crimson ribbon of strong colour and good integrity.
