At dawn on 1 September 1939 the German armed forces attacked Poland, and the Second World War began. Two days later Great Britain and France declared war on Germany, and at the end of November the Soviet Union invaded Finland. In April 1940 the armies of the Third Reich overran Denmark and Norway, and soon afterwards the Netherlands and Belgium, while France was collapsing under the weight of the German advance. On 10 June Italy too entered the war. The issue of this medal was officially announced by L'Osservatore Romano on 29 June 1940 (after Bartolotti). Silver.

The Pope’s twenty-second apostolic journey, and his first visit to Switzerland after his brief stop in Geneva in 1982, took place from 12 to 17 June 1984, visiting fourteen locations. The journey had originally been planned for 1981 but was postponed following the assassination attempt in St Peter’s Square. The legend UT UNUM SINT (John 17:21) refers to the strongly ecumenical character of the visit, which included meetings with the World Council of Churches in Geneva and the Federation of Protestant Churches in Kehrsatz. On 15 June, at Einsiedeln, John Paul II consecrated the high altar of the basilica during the abbey’s 1,050th anniversary celebrations. Bronze.

About mint state. John Paul II came to Radom on 4 June 1991, during his fourth pilgrimage to Poland, made from 1 to 9 June under the motto "Bogu dziękujcie, ducha nie gaście". In the city he prayed in the church of the Protection of Our Lady, at that time, the co-cathedral and today the cathedral, where he blessed the epitaph of Bishop Piotr Gołębiowski and met the children of first communion; he stopped in prayer at the monument to the workers of the Radom protest of June 1976, celebrated Mass at the military airfield of Sadków and blessed the new major seminary of the diocese.
