Simpson, London (maker’s mark & silver hallmarks on reverse) Material: Sterling Silver, Gilt, Enamel; Original Two-Tone Green Silk Ribbon A handsome and substantial Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes – Grand Council Jewel, issued to a member of Hexalpha Lodge No. 1716. The top suspension bar is decorated with a buffalo-horn motif and engraved with the lodge name. The long green ribbon is embroidered in gold thread with: RAOB – GRAND COUNCIL Suspended below is a finely executed medallion featuring a gilt kangaroo on a shield (the emblem used by many Australasian RAOB jurisdictions), framed in deep blue enamel with the title: GRAND COUNCIL The reverse carries a full inscription: Presented to Bro. W.E. Lockham 19th Nov. 1951 Along the lower edge are clear London silver hallmarks, together with the maker’s mark J. Simpson, confirming quality manufacture. Condition: Very Fine. Enamel vivid and intact; gilt elements bright with mild age toning; ribbon original and clean with minimal wear; reverse inscription well-preserved; hallmarks sharp.

Province: Lancashire, Western Division Year: 1952 Maker: Spencer, London (stamped on reverse) Material: Gilt Metal with Enamel; Original Pale-Blue Silk Ribbon A handsome mid-20th-century Provincial Steward’s Jewel for the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys, issued to the Province of Lancashire, Western Division. The jewel is suspended from its original STEWARD 1952 bar in white and blue enamel, with the provincial scroll beneath. The medallion features a bold gilt lion crest above a finely detailed quartered shield in rich champlevé enamel, surrounded by the institution title: ROYAL MASONIC INSTITUTION FOR BOYS and the lodge/committee name: KODES LAADON-I (As a period designation, this appears to reference a lodge or festival committee associated with the 1952 appeal.) The reverse is plain gilt with clear maker’s stamp: SPENCER LONDON Condition: Very Fine. Gilt surfaces bright with mild toning; enamel clean and intact; ribbon original with light age rippling; reverse with natural patina and undisturbed fittings.

Suspension Bar Ornate gilt top bar with blue enamel text: “W.M. 1952–53” Below it, a similarly styled bar reading: “NEATH LODGE M.M.M. No. 1125” Ribbon Traditional MMM colours: maroon and pale blue vertical stripes. Original pin and fittings intact. Main Jewel A large, finely cast gilt Mark Master's Square, decorated with scrolling foliage. Suspended from this is the Keystone, the central emblem of the Mark degree. Keystone Constructed in peach-coloured celluloid/resin (typical of mid-20th century MMM jewels). Obverse: K S H T W S T, the traditional Mark cipher. Reverse: Triangle-within-circle symbol and Hebrew characters. Reverse Inscriptions Engraved on the back of the square: “Presented to W. BRO. R. S. WILLIAMS, P.M. Neath Mark Lodge 1125, 27/6/53.” Hallmarks (F&S) appear near the lower bar. NOTES & CONTEXT This is a classic post-war British Mark Master Mason WM jewel, reflecting the style used by many Welsh lodges in the 1940s–60s. Neath Lodge No. 1125 is part of the Province of South Wales. Such pieces with clear inscriptions and intact keystone tend to be desirable to collectors.

A finely made gilt-metal and enamel steward jewel issued by the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls in 1954. The elaborate medallion displays the Institution’s armorial shield—scales, green cross and crossed quills—beneath a helmet and tower crest, all within a red-and-white enamelled oval border inscribed R.M.I.G · 1954. The motto PERSEVERANCE AND COURAGE appears on a blue scroll below. Suspended from an ornate gilt scroll bar enamelled STEWARD and attached by a decorative chain, typical of Toye & Co. workmanship. Reverse stamped TOYE & Co LONDON. Condition: Very fine; enamel crisp and complete; minor wear to gilding; suspension chain fully intact. A scarce mid-century RMIG jewel of attractive manufacture.

Lot # 413 - Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes – Primo Jewel, Coronation Lodge No. 8631 (1954) (27.69 mm, 24.63 g). Maker: Thomas Fattorini Ltd., Birmingham Hallmarked Sterling Silver (Birmingham, 1953–54) A distinguished and attractive R.A.O.B. Primo Jewel awarded to a Brother raised to the degree of Primo, the first major rank of honour within the Order. This example was issued to Coronation Lodge No. 8631, and features a fine combination of enamel, gilt metal, and sterling silver craftsmanship. The top bar displays a blue enamel scroll inscribed PRIMO, flanked by decorative gilt flags. Suspended below is the original dark-blue moiré ribbon embroidered in gold with the intertwined RAOB initials R.A.O.B. G.L.E. At the base of the ribbon is a gilt scroll panel reading: CORONATION LODGE 8631 The jewel itself consists of a laurel-wreath frame surrounding a blue and white enamel medallion bearing the Order’s core virtues: JUSTICE · TRUTH · PHILANTHROPY At the centre is the traditional RAOB buffalo-head monogram interlaced with decorative red enamel elements. Reverse The reverse is neatly engraved: BRO. ARTHUR ETHERIDGE RAISED 27–7–54 CORONATION LODGE 8631 Above the inscription appear crisp Birmingham silver hallmarks: Sterling silver (lion passant) Anchor (Birmingham assay) Date-letter for 1953–54 Maker’s mark: T. FATTORINI LTD. The original attachment loop and fittings remain in place. Condition: Fine to Very Fine. Ribbon with visible wear and fading at centre; enamel remains bright and sharply detailed; gilt areas show expected age toning; engraving clear and legible; silver hallmarks crisp; suspension secure. A highly representative and personalised RAOB Primo Jewel, valued for its silver construction, lodge inscription, and clear documentation of the recipient’s elevation in 1954. Brighton Military Lodge No. 4234 jewel, gilt and enamel, suspended from its original vertically ribbed blue silk ribbon with ornate gilt scroll bars inscribed “BRIGHTON MILITARY” and “LODGE No. 4234”. The obverse featuring a radiating gilt starburst enclosing a circular blue enamel centre bearing a Masonic cipher and motto. The reverse engraved “Bro. H. R. Bastin, R.D.H., Stanley Lodge 4234, 13th Dec. 1956”, with maker’s mark “L. Simpson (London) Ltd.” below, fitted with its original long pin fastening. Lot # 415 - Royal Arch Masonic Jewel Mid-20th Century (Exalted 1958)** Lodge: Tamar Lodge No. 3036 Material: Gilt metal with enamel (41.47 mm, 32.76 g). A bold and well-preserved Royal Arch Masonic jewel, formed as a radiating gilt star with finely struck detail and vivid enamel work. The obverse features the Royal Arch emblematic cipher HRA, rendered in red, white, and blue enamel, set within a deep cobalt-blue enamelled circular band bearing the Latin motto “PALMA NON SINE PULVERE” in gilt lettering. The surrounding starburst field is crisply finished, giving the jewel strong visual presence. The reverse is neatly engraved: “BRO. THOMAS LOWE TAMAR LODGE No. 3036 EXALTED 16.12.58” Below the engraving are struck maker’s and metal marks, confirming manufacture and period. The original suspension loop remains intact. Maker: (Hallmarked Birmingham; silversmith initials present) Hallmarked Sterling Silver (Birmingham, 1958–59) A well-crafted and attractive Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (R.A.O.B.) Ascension Lodge Jewel, presented in 1959, and suspended from its original tricolour ribbon in red, cream, and green. The jewel is executed in gilt and enamel over sterling silver, featuring the elegant and characteristic RAOB design elements of the mid-20th century. The upper gilt bar is engraved ASCENSION LODGE, from which the wide ribbon descends, embroidered in gold with the intertwined letters R.A.O.B. G.L.E. The lower pendant displays a circular gilt and blue enamel medallion encircled by a laurel wreath. At centre appear the classical RAOB initials in red enamel, surrounded by the Latin motto: NEC MORTALIUM OMNIBUS HORIS SAPIT (“Not even the wisest man is wise at all hours”) The year 1959 is engraved on the lower scroll, referencing the date of presentation. Reverse The reverse is neatly engraved: Bro. S. E. Liss Ascension Lodge No. 8772 21.6.59 Below the inscription appear clear Birmingham silver hallmarks confirming: Sterling silver (lion passant) Birmingham assay (anchor) Date-letter for 1958–59 Silversmith’s registered mark A long bar-pin suspension remains intact and functional. The obverse with a gilt cross-form jewel, finely engraved, centred with a blue enamel roundel bearing the motto “NEMO MORTALIUM OMNIBUS HORIS SAPIIT”, enclosing a lion’s head motif, the whole suspended from decorative fittings. Lodge of Silent Temple No. 126 jewel, gilt and enamel, commemorating the Bicentenary 1762–1962, suspended from its original pale blue ribbed silk ribbon fitted with ornate gilt scroll bars, the upper bar applied with a purple enamel “CC” device flanked by the dates 1762 – 1962, and a lower blue enamel bar inscribed “No. 126”. The obverse featuring a circular openwork gilt medallion within a pale blue enamel border lettered “LODGE OF SILENT TEMPLE”, enclosing an intricate interlaced symbolic motif, with the date 1762 at the base. The reverse plain gilt with openwork centre and maker’s marks “T.K.S” and “E.S.M”, fitted with its original long pin fastening. A finely executed mid-20th century Masonic jewel, marking the Lodge’s bicentenary, notable for its restrained colour palette, high-quality enamelling, and elegant openwork design. Material: Gilt metal with enamel and embroidered ribbon A finely made Masonic attendance jewel, suspended from its original pale green ribbon with pink and black edge stripes, the ribbon embroidered “CLH” in gilt thread. The ornate gilt suspension bar is engraved “PRESS LODGE No. 5564”. The obverse jewel is formed as a multi-pointed star centred with a lion’s head in relief, surrounded by a blue enamelled circlet bearing the motto “MORTALIUM OMNIBUS HORIS SAPI”, the enamel retaining strong colour and definition. The reverse is engraved: “BRO. J. A. READ for attendance 30th Nov. 1962” Below the inscription are struck maker’s and metal marks. The original pin fitting remains intact. Condition: Very Fine. A Steward’s jewel for the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution, comprising a ribbed crimson ribbon mounted with a black enamel bar inscribed STEWARD, the ribbon applied with a silvered lion device. Suspended below, a substantial cast and enamelled tower-form jewel bearing the initials R.M.B.I., the date 1962, and a red-and-gold heraldic shield. Reverse stamped MARPLES & BEASLEY, BIRMINGHAM, with original pin-back fitting. Condition: Very fine; minor wear to ribbon from handling, enamel bright and complete, metal surfaces clean with light age toning. A classic example of the mid-20th-century R.M.B.I. Steward festival jewel, produced by the noted regalia makers Marples & Beasley.

Simpson Ltd., London Material: Gilt metal with multi-colour enamel; original riband A handsome and well-preserved Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes Testimonial Jewel, issued by New Belsize Lodge No. 7478 and presented on 24 April 1963 to Bro. J. Woodhouse, C.P. “as a mark of respect.” The jewel features the classic RAOB intertwined monogram in bright enamel, set within a gilt laurel wreath and surmounted by the distinctive buffalo-horn motif. The jewel is suspended from a vibrant blue, white, red, and yellow striped riband, topped with a gilt bar bearing the word TESTIMONIAL in rich blue enamel. The reverse retains the full presentation inscription along with the maker’s mark: L. SIMPSON LTD / LONDON W.C.2, and hallmarks for gilt metal manufacture of the period. Condition: Very Fine. Enamel bright and undamaged; gilt surfaces retain strong colour; riband clean with only light age shading; reverse inscription crisp; fittings original and functional. A particularly attractive and colourful RAOB testimonial piece.

Above, the oval steward’s device and suspension bar enamelled “Steward”. The reverse plain, retaining its original pin fitting, with maker’s mark “Kenning & Son, London” to the suspension bar. A fine and well-preserved example of an early 20th-century Royal Masonic Institution for Boys steward’s badge, retaining strong enamel colours and original ribbon. A gilt and enamel Steward’s jewel issued for the 1966 Royal Masonic Institution for Boys Festival, the blue enamel bar inscribed STEWARD suspending a pale blue ribbed ribbon, applied with a gilt compasses badge bearing a blue shield decorated with six birds. Below hangs a gilt and enamel medallion with laurel wreath border, surmounted by an eagle, framing the RMIB arms of three hands above a lion, and inscribed ROYAL MASONIC INSTITUTION FOR BOYS – 1966. Reverse stamped J.R. GAUNT, LONDON, with original pin-back fitting. Condition: Very fine; enamel bright and undamaged, ribbon lightly toned from age, gilt surfaces clean. A well-preserved example of the mid-century RMIB festival jewel.

Simpson, London Gilt metal with enamel and ribbon A refined and well-preserved Royal Masonic Institution for Girls (RMIG) Steward Jewel dated 1966, featuring bright enamelwork, a quality woven ribbon, and decorative heraldic elements. Suspended from a cream-coloured moiré ribbon—adorned at the centre with a red-and-gold embroidered rosette—the jewel is topped by a light-blue enamel bar inscribed STEWARD. The lower medallion presents an ornate heraldic design: a silvered shield bearing three black birds on a white field, bordered in red, set beneath a black bird crest and surrounded by scrolling mantling. A red enamel scroll beneath the shield carries the word PROVIDE, while the surrounding pale-blue enamel band reads: ROYAL MASONIC INSTITUTION FOR GIRLS – 1966 Reverse The reverse is plain, showing the cut-out design structure. The original pin-back fastener remains intact and is stamped: L. SIMPSON LONDON Condition: Very Fine. Ribbon clean with mild age toning; enamel bright and undamaged; gilt details crisp; light handling marks to the reverse; suspension fitting secure. Gilt and enamel jewel suspended from a deep blue ribbed silk ribbon, embroidered “R I O / G L E”, surmounted by a gilt scroll inscribed “PRIMO”. The obverse features a crowned shield within a laurel wreath, bearing the Masonic motto “Justice, Truth, Philanthropy”, with coloured enamel details. The jewel is suspended from a named bar “Ellan Vannin Lge. 431”. The reverse is engraved “Bro. Alan Hamlett, Raised 5.7.67, Ellan Vannin Lodge 431”, retaining original vertical pin fitting. Maker’s and metal marks present. A well-preserved and attractive mid-20th-century Masonic lodge jewel, clearly attributed and of good ceremonial quality. Condition: Very good, light surface wear and patina consistent with age; ribbon with minor wear. Period: Dated 1967.

A gilt and enamel Steward’s jewel for the 1968 Festival of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution, the upper scroll-form bar enamelled R.M.B.I. – STEWARD – 1968, suspended by a gilt ring to an ornate heraldic medallion. The lower jewel features a classical bust above a shield bearing two red hands, framed by acanthus ornament and enamel scrolls reading LOYAL AU MORT above and MANIBUS VICTORIA DEXTRIS below. Reverse impressed with the maker’s mark G. KENNING & SPENCER LTD., LONDON, retaining its original pin and loop fittings. Condition: Very fine; light surface wear to gilding, enamel panels clean and intact, fittings sound. An unusual and attractive RM.B.I. festival jewel.

First Degree jewel, gilt and enamel, suspended from its original red ribbed silk ribbon with blue borders, fitted with a gilt suspension bar with horned terminals, retaining its original pin fastening. The obverse with a circular gilt and blue enamel medallion surmounted by a crown, the border inscribed “FIRST DEGREE” and “R.A.O.B.”, enclosing the standing buffalo emblem in high relief, surrounded by ornate gilt scrollwork. The reverse plain gilt, engraved “Presented to Bro. B. Gage, 30th Oct. 1972”, with maker’s and quality marks at the base, the ribbon mounted on a gilt backing plate. A well-preserved late 20th century Buffaloes jewel, clearly attributed and dated, retaining its original ribbon and suspension, and displaying strong colour contrast between enamel and ribbon. Condition: Very good, with light surface wear and patina consistent with age; enamels intact; ribbon clean and well preserved. Date: 30 October 1972.

Maker: Toye, Kenning & Spencer (Poljoy / Estrehann), London Material: Gilt Metal with Enamel Date: 1972 A handsome and colourful jewel issued for the 1972 Festival of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls (R.M.I.G.), worn by a subscribing Steward. The jewel is suspended from a cream ribbon and topped with an elegant white enamel bar inscribed: 19 · STEWARD · 72 with side panels bearing the RMIG initials in red enamel. The pendant badge is shaped as a Tudor rose with vivid red and green enamel petals, surrounding an oval shield whose gilt and enamel heraldic devices represent the charitable institution. At the top sits the traditional double-headed eagle crest, finely modelled and retaining its original gilt finish. Around the central shield is the Latin motto: PRO · MERITO · PRO · COD · EMPIRE The reverse retains the original pin fittings and is clearly stamped with the maker’s mark: POLJOY (ESTREHAN) LTD 5 GREAT QUEEN STREET LONDON W.C.2 Condition: Very Fine. Enamel bright with minimal rubbing; gilt surfaces clean and well preserved; ribbon lightly toned but sound; reverse with mild patination and crisp maker’s stamp.
