Lot # 440 - Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes – Attendance Jewel, 1981 (36.39 mm, 29.97 g). Maker: Thomas Fattorini Ltd., London & Birmingham Hallmarked Sterling Silver (London, 1980–81) A finely produced Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (R.A.O.B.) attendance jewel, presented in 1981, crafted in gilt metal over sterling silver with deep blue enamel and suspended from its original two-tone blue ribbon. This jewel represents the later 20th-century RAOB design, combining traditional iconography with crisp modern workmanship. The gilt top bar is engraved SERVICE LODGE, supporting a ribbed ribbon in alternating light and dark blue. The pendant features an ornate gilt frame decorated with laurel sprays and scrolls, topped by a green enamel RAOB cartouche. At the centre appears the classic RAOB lion’s head within a blue enamel ring inscribed: NEC MORTALIUM OMNIBUS HORIS SAPIT (“Not even the wisest man is wise at all hours”) The enamel is bright and well applied, giving the jewel strong visual contrast. Reverse The reverse bears a clear presentation inscription: Bro. L. CRINT KOM. for Attendance 1981 Below the inscription are crisp London silver hallmarks confirming: Sterling silver (lion passant) London assay (leopard’s head) Date-letter for 1980–81 Maker’s mark: T. FATTORINI LTD. A long, original pin-back suspension is present and in functional condition. Condition: Very Fine. Ribbon with mild handling creases but bright colour; enamel fully intact; gilt surfaces clean with gentle toning; engraving sharp and elegant; hallmarks clear; suspension original and secure. A handsome example of a late 20th-century RAOB attendance jewel, valued for its sterling-silver construction, vivid enamel, and personalised 1981 presentation inscription.

Lot # 439 - Independent Order of Oddfellows (Manchester Unity) Member’s Badge (37.39 x 39.46 mm, 19.85 g). Independent Order of Oddfellows, Manchester Unity member’s badge, gilt and enamel, suspended from its original blue and white vertically striped ribbed silk ribbon. The obverse with a diamond-shaped gilt badge, enamelled in blue and red, inscribed “Independent Order of Oddfellows M.U.”, centred with the Order’s intertwined emblem, within a decorative scalloped border. The ribbon suspension fitted with a gilt top bar mounted with an enamelled heraldic shield beneath a laurel wreath crest. The reverse plain gilt, retaining its original long pin fitting, and stamped “Sterling” to the upper suspension, with Birmingham maker’s mark visible to the reverse of the badge. A well-made and attractive example of a Manchester Unity Oddfellows member’s badge, retaining strong enamel colours and its original ribbon. Condition: Very good, with expected surface wear and patina; enamels largely intact with minor losses; ribbon showing wear consistent with age. Date: Late 19th – early 20th century.

Lot # 438 - Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes – Attendance Jewel, 1980 (36.40 mm, 29.98 g). Maker: Thomas Fattorini Ltd., London & Birmingham Hallmarked Sterling Silver (London, 1979–80) A well-crafted and attractive Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (R.A.O.B.) attendance jewel, presented in 1980, executed in gilt and enamel over sterling silver, and suspended from its original light-blue and white ribbon. This jewel represents the modern, refined style of late 20th-century RAOB regalia. The top bar features a gilt scroll engraved with the Order’s motto, attached to a crisp ribbed ribbon in alternating blue and white. Hanging below is the distinctive six-armed star badge, encircled by a laurel wreath symbolising merit and dedication. At the centre of the star appears a lion’s head in relief, surrounded by a blue enamel band inscribed with the RAOB motto: NEC MORTALIUM OMNIBUS HORIS SAPIT (“Not even the wisest man is wise at all hours”) Reverse The reverse is neatly engraved: Presented to Bro. J. Woodhouse for Attendance 26th Nov. 1980 Along the lower edge appear crisp London silver hallmarks confirming: Sterling silver (lion passant) London assay (leopard’s head) Date-letter for 1979–80 Maker’s mark: T. FATTORINI LTD. The long pin-back suspension fitting remains intact and secure. Condition: Very Fine. Ribbon clean and bright; enamel fully intact; gilt surfaces sharp with gentle patina; engraving clear and elegant; hallmarks crisp; suspension original and complete. A handsome and appealing RAOB presentation jewel, valued for its sterling-silver construction, personalised inscription, and excellent overall preservation. A strong example for collectors of late 20th-century Buffaloes regalia.

Lot # 437 - Royal Masonic Institution for Boys (R.M.I.B.), Provincial Grand Lodge of Wiltshire, Steward’s Jewel, 1979 (42.91 x 33.43 mm, 19.50 g). A gilt and enamel Steward’s jewel issued for the 1979 Festival of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys under the Province of Wiltshire. The red enamel bar inscribed STEWARD suspends a pale blue ribbed ribbon, below which hangs a gilt and enamel medallion showing two winged figures flanking the Ark of the Covenant, with surrounding legend THE PROVINCIAL GRAND LODGE OF WILTSHIRE – R.M.I.B., and date 1979 in a lower scroll. Reverse plain, with original pin-back suspension. Condition: Very fine; ribbon lightly toned, enamel clean and bright, gilding with minor age wear. A good example of a late 20th-century RMIB festival jewel.

Lot # 436 - Philanthropic Lodge No. 2463 – Founder’s Jewel (44.01 mm, 33.48 g). Presented 8 September 1974** Maker: (Hallmarked; maker’s mark present) Material: Gilt Metal with Enamel; original riband A finely produced Founder’s Jewel for Philanthropic Lodge No. 2463, presented in 1974 to Hon. Knight Sir A. E. Allen. The jewel is of star form, finished in gilt and centred with a richly enamelled roundel displaying the seated allegorical figure representing Justice, Truth, and Philanthropy, encircled by the lodge title: PHILANTHROPIC LODGE No. 2463 The jewel is suspended from its original green and pale blue riband with red centre stripe, surmounted by an ornate gilt bar bearing the word FOUNDER in blue enamel. The reverse is engraved with the full original presentation inscription: “Presented to Hon. Knight Sir A. E. Allen 8th September 1974” The original pin fitting and suspension remain intact. Condition: Very Fine. Enamel bright and intact; gilt with light handling wear only; engraving crisp and fully legible; ribbon original and clean with minimal age toning; fittings secure. A well-preserved late 20th-century Founder’s jewel.

Lot # 435 - Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution (R.M.B.I.) Steward’s Jewel, 1973, by Marples & Beasley (34.89 x 46.36 mm, 20.96 g). A gilt and enamel Steward’s Jewel for the 1973 R.M.B.I. Festival, the blue enamel top bar reading STEWARD, suspending a crimson ribbed ribbon applied with a gilt Pegasus emblem. Below hangs a circular gilt jewel with laurel wreath border, the centre enamelled in blue and white depicting a stag beneath a tree, surrounded by the legend ROYAL MASONIC BENEVOLENT INSTITUTION, and dated 1973 in a lower panel. Reverse stamped MARPLES & BEASLEY, BIRMINGHAM, with original pin-back fitting. Condition: Very fine; minor surface wear to gilt, ribbon lightly aged but intact, enamels bright and undamaged. An attractive example of a later R.M.B.I. festival jewel.

Lot # 434 - Royal Masonic Institution for Girls – Steward’s Jewel, 1972 (41.78 x 37.65 mm, 23.17 g). Maker: Toye, Kenning & Spencer (Poljoy / Estrehann), London Material: Gilt Metal with Enamel Date: 1972 A handsome and colourful jewel issued for the 1972 Festival of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls (R.M.I.G.), worn by a subscribing Steward. The jewel is suspended from a cream ribbon and topped with an elegant white enamel bar inscribed: 19 · STEWARD · 72 with side panels bearing the RMIG initials in red enamel. The pendant badge is shaped as a Tudor rose with vivid red and green enamel petals, surrounding an oval shield whose gilt and enamel heraldic devices represent the charitable institution. At the top sits the traditional double-headed eagle crest, finely modelled and retaining its original gilt finish. Around the central shield is the Latin motto: PRO · MERITO · PRO · COD · EMPIRE The reverse retains the original pin fittings and is clearly stamped with the maker’s mark: POLJOY (ESTREHAN) LTD 5 GREAT QUEEN STREET LONDON W.C.2 Condition: Very Fine. Enamel bright with minimal rubbing; gilt surfaces clean and well preserved; ribbon lightly toned but sound; reverse with mild patination and crisp maker’s stamp.

Lot # 433 - Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes First Degree Jewel (40.92 x 50.76 mm, 29.49 g). Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (R.A.O.B.) First Degree jewel, gilt and enamel, suspended from its original red ribbed silk ribbon with blue borders, fitted with a gilt suspension bar with horned terminals, retaining its original pin fastening. The obverse with a circular gilt and blue enamel medallion surmounted by a crown, the border inscribed “FIRST DEGREE” and “R.A.O.B.”, enclosing the standing buffalo emblem in high relief, surrounded by ornate gilt scrollwork. The reverse plain gilt, engraved “Presented to Bro. B. Gage, 30th Oct. 1972”, with maker’s and quality marks at the base, the ribbon mounted on a gilt backing plate. A well-preserved late 20th century Buffaloes jewel, clearly attributed and dated, retaining its original ribbon and suspension, and displaying strong colour contrast between enamel and ribbon. Condition: Very good, with light surface wear and patina consistent with age; enamels intact; ribbon clean and well preserved. Date: 30 October 1972.

Lot # 432 - Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution (R.M.B.I.) Steward’s Jewel, 1968, by G. Kenning & Spencer Ltd., London (41.32 x 26.33 mm, 20.33 g). A gilt and enamel Steward’s jewel for the 1968 Festival of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution, the upper scroll-form bar enamelled R.M.B.I. – STEWARD – 1968, suspended by a gilt ring to an ornate heraldic medallion. The lower jewel features a classical bust above a shield bearing two red hands, framed by acanthus ornament and enamel scrolls reading LOYAL AU MORT above and MANIBUS VICTORIA DEXTRIS below. Reverse impressed with the maker’s mark G. KENNING & SPENCER LTD., LONDON, retaining its original pin and loop fittings. Condition: Very fine; light surface wear to gilding, enamel panels clean and intact, fittings sound. An unusual and attractive RM.B.I. festival jewel.

Lot # 431 - Royal Masonic Institution for Boys, Provincial Steward Jewel, Cheshire, 1968, by Toye, Kenning & Spencer (31.21 mm, 10.00 g). A gilt and enamel steward jewel issued for the 1968 festival of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys, featuring the crest and quartered arms associated with the Province of Cheshire, executed in vivid blue, red, white, and gilt enamel. The octagonal medallion is suspended from the original pale-blue ribbon, bearing a gilt-and-enamel top bar inscribed STEWARD and a circular provincial emblem for CHESHIRE with the square and compasses. Reverse stamped TOYE KENNING & SPENCER. Condition: Very Fine; enamel clean and complete; slight wear and toning to the gilt surfaces; ribbon original with minor fraying at edges.

Lot # 430 - Masonic Lodge Jewel, Ellan Vannin Lodge No. 431(27.72 x 34.46 mm, 26.91 g). Masonic Lodge Jewel, Ellan Vannin Lodge No. 431, Isle of Man. Gilt and enamel jewel suspended from a deep blue ribbed silk ribbon, embroidered “R I O / G L E”, surmounted by a gilt scroll inscribed “PRIMO”. The obverse features a crowned shield within a laurel wreath, bearing the Masonic motto “Justice, Truth, Philanthropy”, with coloured enamel details. The jewel is suspended from a named bar “Ellan Vannin Lge. 431”. The reverse is engraved “Bro. Alan Hamlett, Raised 5.7.67, Ellan Vannin Lodge 431”, retaining original vertical pin fitting. Maker’s and metal marks present. A well-preserved and attractive mid-20th-century Masonic lodge jewel, clearly attributed and of good ceremonial quality. Condition: Very good, light surface wear and patina consistent with age; ribbon with minor wear. Period: Dated 1967.

A gilt-metal and enamel steward jewel issued by the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys for 1966. The circular gilt badge displays the heraldic shield of the Institution—three open hands above a lion—set within a laurel wreath and surmounted by an eagle. The surrounding blue enamel legend reads ROYAL MASONIC INSTITUTION FOR BOYS · 1966. Suspended from the original pale-blue ribbon with a blue enamel STEWARD bar and an inset gilt and enamel provincial emblem of Sussex (six martlets). Reverse stamped J.R. GAUNT LONDON. Condition: Very fine; enamel intact; slight wear to gilt; ribbon lightly aged.
