Maker: Fattorini & Sons, London & Birmingham Hallmarked Sterling Silver (London, 1912–13) A finely executed Cheshire Masonic Charities Steward Jewel, dated 1913, crafted in sterling silver with richly coloured enamel and suspended from its original deep crimson ribbon. This pre–WWI example is notable for its elegant early design and its detailed architectural enamel scene. The suspension bar is enamelled in blue with: STEWARD — 1913 It features ornate scrollwork and a central gilt emblem depicting a knight with shield—an allegorical figure of charity or guardianship. The jewel hangs from a ribbed crimson ribbon folded in the traditional triangular Masonic style. Obverse The main medallion is formed as a cross with laurel wreaths between the arms, symbolising honour and benevolence. A fine Edwardian Royal Masonic Institution for Boys (RMIB) Steward Jewel dated 1913, executed in sterling silver with coloured enamel and suspended from its original pale green ribbon. The design is of the classic cross-and-badge type, combining bold enamel fields with crisp die-struck detail typical of Spencer’s early 20th-century workmanship. The upper bar is a decorative silver mount with laurel and floral terminals, centred by a blue enamel panel inscribed STEWARD. This early World War I era jewel is crafted in sterling silver with gilt and enamel highlights, and suspended from its original crimson-and-white ribbon. The suspension bar is gilt and boldly inscribed in high-relief: JUBILEE Below this hangs the original ribbon in alternating crimson and white vertical bands, remaining in strong and presentable condition. Kenning & Son, London Hallmarked Sterling Silver (London, 1918–19) A fine post–World War I Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution (RMBI) Steward Jewel, dated 1919, crafted in sterling silver with rich enamel and suspended from its original deep crimson ribbon. This early interwar jewel is an excellent example of Kenning’s high-quality regalia workmanship. The suspension bar is gilt and enamelled in dark blue with the inscription STEWARD, from which hangs a ribbed crimson ribbon of strong colour. Below this is a red-enamelled coronet, marking the jewel as an official RMBI fundraising honour. The circular medallion features a white enamel Tudor rose at its centre, overlaid with a blue-bordered shield bearing a rampant red lion on a gold field. The upper bar is an ornate laurel-and-crossed emblem mount with a blue enamel panel inscribed STEWARD.
